Lesson Of Faith From Jeremy Lin’s Life

Following Jeremy Lin’s sensational 2012 NBA season with the New York Knicks reminds me once again that no matter how difficult life can become, there is always hope.

Of course, Lin didn’t come in with much media publicity during the early goings of the 2012 NBA season. In fact, after trying out with Houston, he was eventually waived by the Rockets on December, but was eventually picked up by the Knicks.

Even after being picked up by the Knicks, Lin wasn’t even sure if he’d be given the playing time he so desires. But with the injury of Iman Shumpert and Baron Davis, Lin was pulled out by then New York coach Mike D’Antoni, reportedly out of desperation.

D’Antoni’s so-called gamble paid off, because Lin had a breakout game against Deron Williams and the New Jersey Nets, finishing the game with 25 points, five rebounds and seven assists in a 99-92 win.

He went on to lead New York to a seven-game winning streak, giving birth to what has since been widely known as “Lin-sanity”.

Before Lin’s sensational NBA rise, he was an undrafted Harvard free agent out of Harvard, who turned out to be a stud with the Knicks after becoming the first player in league history to post a 20-point-seven-assist average in his first five games.

Like Lin, who went through tremendous adversities, life is full of challenges. I’ve got friends right now who’s family member has a failing health.

My eldest sister, who is now a widow, has been heroically supporting her three kids studying at a Chinese school in Binondo.

I’ve known people who lost their business recently due to the terrible monsoon rains causing flood over the metropolis, but is now slowly picking up and starting a brand new one.

We may go down a lot of time due to numerous crises, but one thing is sure, when we let God be God over our life, over our situation, we can always end each day with a prayer of thanks, knowing that with God, nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37).
