Are You Plugged In Or Disconnected?

During the first two weeks that we had our Smart Bro internet connection, my wife and I had to call Smart Communications several times because our connection went down everyday.

The slow connection from time to time may be forgivable, but a down on its connection isn’t an enjoyable sight anymore.

And usually, when the internet is down, a familiar message appears on our screen—failed to open page.

I’m sure all of us regular internet users have experienced seeing that message at one time or the other.

Some people frown when they see that message, others freak out and get mad because the file they’re downloading was disrupted. While still others go straight to their DSL box and check if there’s a disconnection from their cable.

In life, with the fast paced world we’re living in, it’s easy to “connect” through social networks like Facebook or the microblogging site Twitter.

These are networks that easily “connect” us to people, to friends whose distance in kilometers is narrowed down significantly through the speed of light.

But have we checked our connection with God lately? Is the “failed to open (Bible) page(s)” been appearing at your brain screen recently?

Have we tried checking out our connection cable? Maybe the connection cable of prayer is “unplugged”?

We might just have to take the time to get out of our chair of busyness and give serious attention to the loose cable of life so we could get connected again with Jesus.

The busyness of life can be tiresome, burdensome and leave a trail of discouraged hearts and downcast faces.

Yet, here’s a refreshing invitation from Jesus, the Author of Life–Matthew 11:28-30 says

28 ¶  “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

If you’re tired and discouraged, go ahead and accept His invitation. You’ll never regret it. You’ll be refreshed and you’ll find out that the time spent with Him reverberates throughout eternity.
