Ever experienced getting lost in a seemingly endless highway? I did.

I remembered that well when I traveled to the United States for the first time on July 2008.

With a friendly American from New Mexico offering to drive me and my co-pastor to Tallahassee, Florida, from the Atlanta airport, I thought I was already the master of geography.

With a road map of the U.S. at my finger-tips, I tried to look at where we were at that moment to where we are headed.

What I thought was the right highway and exit to take, was actually, wrong. And for about one and a half hours, we were basically trying to get back from where we started. In short, we got lost–because I assumed I was right.

Can anybody relate? I believe everyone at one point in his life scratched his head because he didn’t know where he’s headed, whether it’s from a highway intersection or from the crossroads of life.

From the Bible, David, the giant killer, got into many highways and intersections and crossroads of life. But one thing I noticed, whenever David consults God, the Master Planner of life, he’d meet with a lot of success.

From handling various military missions as a budding general to being pursued by King Saul who wanted him dead, to the time he became Israel’s king, David made it a point to consult God.

The fast-paced world at times, makes us ignore God’s voice and God’s word as we try to take matters into our own hands.

And oftentimes, the result would be disappointing, or worse, disastrous.

But don’t be discouraged. If you’ve pressed the wrong button many times in the past, it’s not too late.

Get hold of the Bible, the timeless, ancient Book that has changed countless lives of people all over the world.

It’s living and active (Hebrews 4:12). It’s capable of changing our crooked way of thinking and attitude.

It reminds us of God’s faithfulness and Presence. In your lonely hours, you can find strength from His word that says, “I will never leave you, I will never forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5).

The Bible gives us wisdom (Proverbs 2:6). In times when you don’t know what to do, God’s word directs us.

Go ahead, discover the timeless truths in the Bible. I never regretted reading it. You won’t, too.
