The Ultimate Game Changer

Miami Heat guard Ray Allen is now in his 17th NBA season, but he continues to be one of the league’s “game changers.”

Allen, 37, may no longer be spring chicken, but he remains deadly from the outside. And Thursday last week between Miami and San Antonio gave Allen another opportunity to showcase his shooting prowess at the clutch.

In a game where the Spurs rested their veteran stars Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginoboli as well as fast-rising star Danny Green, the Heat found themselves still down by one in the dying minutes.

But with the shock-clock winding down at one critical play, Lebron James made the right decision to drop the ball to Allen, who nailed the go-ahead three-pointer as the Heat went on to take a 105-100 win at their home floor.

Game changers like Allen change situation through a clutch basket, a key defensive block or steal, or timely rebound that changed the situation of the game.

In the Bible (Matthew 9:24-27), we see the disciples have a first-hand encounter with the Ultimate Game Changer.

24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” 26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

What did the disciples experience?

1. Jesus, the Ultimate Game Changer, is in control. The waves and the wind were beyond the disciples’ control. But Jesus was over and above them all. Are you being tossed by the waves of doubt? Maybe, you need to let the Ultimate Game Changer step in to your situation, too.

2. Jesus, the Ultimate Game Changer, brings peace amidst chaos. Your seemingly chaotic situation might be the perfect set up for you to experience Jesus’ unmatched peace. Jesus said in He is the Prince of Peace.

The Apostle Paul also said  in Philippians 4:6-7, Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
