Rain or Shine’s Lee-thal Weapon

Rain or Shine is a deadly team that got even deadlier.

That’s how Rain or Shine looks like going into the quarterfinals, now that last season’s outstanding rookie Paul Lee has been reactivated from the roster after being sidelined for several months due to dislocated shoulder.

Paul LeeLee was fantastic during his first game back from the injury, tallying 16 points, grabbing four rebounds and issuing six assists in just 20 minutes as Rain or Shine eliminated Barako Bull last week, 116-101 at the MOA Arena.

After the game, Lee talked to the press and said he feels good to be back and contribute to the team again after a long time doing rehab on his injured shoulder.

Actually, as I watch him play at the MOA Arena, it appeared like he never really missed a beat, outplaying Ronald Tubid, who defended him during the second half.

Tubid, the star of the UE Red Warriors during his college days, couldn’t keep pace with the speed and dribbling prowess of the younger Lee, a fellow alumnus.

Come the quarterfinals, it would be interesting to see how Lee would use his speed and drive-to-the-basket mentality against a taller Barangay Ginebra side.

LA Tenorio shared on Sunday night that Lee’s return makes the Elasto Painters an even more dangerous team.

“They are back in their championship form,  mas nakakatakot ang Rain or Shine. Di mo alam sino ang puputok. Kahit naman wala si Paul Lee, okay sila eh. Ngayon, may additional firepower na sila,” said Tenorio.

With a short best-of-three quarterfinal series, the team that wins Game One easily gets the quick psychological advantage.

Who’ll win the series? Rain or Shine or Barangay Ginebra? Take your pick.
