To Whom Do We Base Our Confidence?

The road to the top wasn’t easy for David. For before he became king of Israel and brought his nation to political prominence during his time, he also went through low points in his life.

In fact, one the most difficult moments of his life happened just before he became king. He was hunted down like an animal by Israel’s king, Saul. Whether David was hiding in the mountains, plains or valley, King Saul and his faithful supporters hunted him down to kill him because he didn’t want him to succeed him as king.

But during his low moment, David found strength in God. He revered God. And by going down on his knees in worship and prayer, he discovered the key to overcoming his fears.

David said, I will extol (praise) the Lord at all times.

Regardless of the circumstances, praise Him! Glorify Him! Exalt Him! Let God be the first in our life. Let Him take prominence in our life.

For each time we dwell in God’s presence and choose to focus on Him, fear dissipates.

* Are there circumstances that make us fearful?

* Are we overcome by dread?

* Do we lose hope in what we are facing today?

Look to God. He is our Deliverer. As David said in verse 5, those who look to him are radiant, their faces are never covered with shame.
